THE EFFECTIVENESS OF DISCUSSION STRATEGY TO TEACH SPEAKING SKILLS IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Abstract:
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the discussion strategy in tenth-grade TKR (Teknik Kendaraan Ringan) 1 of SMK Pemuda Kutorejo in the 2021/2022 academic year. This type of research is experimental research. The research instrument includes tests and lesson plans. This research is an experimental study with a quantitative design. The data collection instrument used a test, namely a speaking test in front of the class. The test was used to collect data about the tenth-grade TKR (Teknik Kendaraan Ringan) 1 students of SMK Pemuda Kutorejo. The data that has been taken were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment formula. The results of this study were shown by a T-test of 7,88 from the number of students in one class, namely 36 students. If the T-test is compared with the T-table with 36 degrees of freedom, the T-test is 7,88 higher than the T-table 1,68. Based on the research that has been done, there are some suggestions for the teacher to make sure that the students enjoy the learning process and for the next researcher to make the treatment work, make sure that the learning preparation is done. The researcher concluded that using a discussion strategy to teach speaking in descriptive texts was successfully applied to the tenth-grade TKR (Teknik Kendaraan Ringan) 1 of SMK Pemuda Kutorejo in the 2021/2022 academic year.
